State of North Carolina. Anson County -- Pursuant to an order of
Court directed to the Sheriff of said County of Anson requiring him
to summon a jury of good and Lawful men to lay off to Abvilla Hailey,
widow of John Hailey Dec'd her dower in the lands of sd John Hailey Dec'd.
In pursuance of sd order I R? W Allen Sheriff as aft' attended
by the undersigned free holders they being duly sworn have laid off and
alloted to her the sd Abvilla Hailey Widow as a aft' a tract of land
containing twenty nine and a third acres it being one third part of the
lands of sd John Hailey Dec'd and including the mansion or dwelling house
wherein he lived last before his Dec'd which one third part is bounded
as folloes beginning at a stake in Adcocks line in the old river road 1
sweet Gum & dogwood -?- and run with sd line So 64 1/2 Wst 14 chains
75 links then So 39 Est 18 chains 25 links to the 1st corner of s 100 acre
deed(?) by a red oak stump in the old river Road then with sd road So 2
Est 6(?) chns 50 links then with sd Road So 9 Est 12 chns 40 lks to the
Rooty branch then down the various courses of sd Branch 12 chns 30 links
to a Spanish oak Permenters Corner on the old road then with said Road
So 30 Est 10 chns then So 25 Est 11 chns 60 links to Permenters Corner
stake then with Permenters line No 65 Est 12 chns 50 links to a
black jack by hickory then No 32 Wst 58 chns 50 links to the beginning
all of which I report to the worshipfull Court aft' as witnefs of th said
freeholders doth hereunto set there respective hands and seals this the
30th day of October 1839.
