Last Will and Testament
of

GEORGE HALEY
1837

This document was transcribed from a very poor copy of the handwritten original. I have added paragraph breaks for ease of reading.

In the name of God Amen

I George Haley of the County of Richmond & State of North Carolina being at present in a low state of health and recollecting the uncertainity of life do make ordain publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament here by revoking and annuling all former wills by me made.

In the first place being somewhat indebited it is my will and desire that my executor herein after named shall sell for the payment [.......] as they deem most allowable .........of about two hundred acres lying in the fork of the creek adjoining the lands of .......and others which ..purchased...of the court of Equity........also part of 170 acres belonging to my Father my part being about 80 acres adjoining the lands of Jonathan Hailey....brothers Harry Haley & Charles Haley. I also direct that my last year cotton crop of 12 bags which is [now?] stored in Cheraw be sold for the same purpose and the proceeds applied to the payment of my debts the proceeds of the sale of the above land together with my [?] crop I think in all probability will be sufficient for the payment of my debts . Should it however (be) insufficient in that event I wish my executors to sell such part of my personal property as in their [discretion?] they may think my family can best spare with the [?] to the balance of my property
