WILLIAM B. HAILEY
June 11, 1856

This document was transcribed as close to accurate as possible from a poor copy of the handwritten original. Words and phrases that I could not decypher will be indicated by [?]. This document has been edited for ease of reading.
I can't decide for sure whether the name is Heailey or Hailey. Each time the name appears there is either an "e" between the "H" and the "i" or the "H" is finished off with a fancy "Curly Q". Since I received zero results from internet searchs for the name Heailey in the US, I am assuming the name is Hailey.

This indenture made and entered into this eleventh day of June in the year 1856 between the State of Misssissippi of the first part and William B. Hailey of the Second part.

Witnesseth; that wherein there was forfeiture April 1854 to the State of Mississippi for taxes due to the Said State the following tract of land to wit;
North East Quarter of Section fifteen in Township thirteen of Range Sixteen East. Situated in the County of Noxubee and the period limited for the redemption of Said land having expired without the same having been Redeemed and whereas the Said William B. Hailey who is Resident of this State desires to purchase Said tract of land, and has this day paid into the Treasury of the State of Mississippi the Sum of nine dollars and fifty two cents being the amount required by law to Redeem the Same;
now in consideration of the premises and of the payment into the Treasury of the Sum of money aforesaid and in accordance with the provisions of the act of the legislature approved March 9th 1850 entitled "an act to Secure the Collection of Taxes on delinquent lands and for other purposes" and also in accordance with the provisions of the act of the legislature approved March 16th 1852 entitled an act to amend "an act [amendatory?] of the Revenue Laws of the State" and also an act to Secure the collection of Taxes on delinquent land and for other purposes approved March 9th 1850.

The State of Mississippi has this day bargained Sold and Convey unto the Said William B. Hailey his heirs and assigns forever the aforesaid tract of land as above described situated in the County of Noxubee and containing one hundred Sixty acres more or less, to have and to hold the Same to the Said William B. Hailey his heirs and asigns forever. The said State of Mississippi hereby expressly refuses to warrant or in any manner whatever to become responsible for the title to Said tract of land further than this;
the Said State agrees that if the Said Wiliam B. Hailey shall by some regular proceeding in a court of competent jurisdiction be evicted within five years from this date from the said tract of land by [paramount?] title then the Said State Shall and hereby agrees to refund the Sum of Nine dollars and fifty two cents without interest or damages.

In testimony whereof these presents are Signed Sealed and delivered in the name of the State of Mississippi by Madison McAffee Auditor of Public Accounts who has hereunto Subscribed his name anmd affixed his Seal of Office on this Eleventh day of June in the year eighteen hundred & fifty six at the City of Jackson.

Hindle County} Personally appeared before Mr. J T Simms Clerk of the Superior Court of Chancery of Said State Madison McAffee who acknowledged that he Signed Sealed and delivered the above deed as Auditor of Public Accounts for the purposes therein set forth.
Given under My hand and the Seal of Said Court at Jackson this Eleventh day of June 1856.
