North Carolina, Anson County} Whereas John Crawford, Thomas Moorman, Frances Clarke and Isham Hailey is now lawfully pofsefsed of a [?] or parcel of land lying and being in Anson County - on great Pee Dee River opposite the mouth of Cartledges Creek containing seven acres and three fourths of an acre of land being an island and shore in Pee Dee River beginning at a water beach or whitewood tree on the lower end of the island and running thence with the bank and shoal to the upper end thereof round to the beginning. Granted to the said John Crawford, Isham Hailey, Thomas Moorman and Frances Clarke by his majesty's patent letter dated the 4th day of May in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty nine This may therefore certify that we John Crawford and Isham Hailey do hereby [?] and severally freely agree that Benjamin Moorman, Silous[Silas?] Hailey and John Matthews their heirs or afsignees shall freely pofsefs an equal part or share of the prevaleges and benefits of the above mentioned Island with all the wood water and fishery thereunto belonging such and everyone of them pay an equal part of all the expence that shall [hereas?] upon the above mentioned land therto belonging. This is further to certify that the above said [partners?] Thomas Moorman and Frances Clarke do [know?] the persons here unto [?] with equal rights and prevaleges of the above mentioned island with all the woods water & fishery therto belinging to Christopher Clark & John Thomas their heirs or afsignees paying an equal part of the [?] due and incurring upon the aforesaid Island. The true sense and meaning of the above said agreement is the said John Crawford & Isham Hailey & company is to fish every other twenty four hours and that Thomas Moorman & Frances Clarke & company equaltime and this given from under our hands this 6th day of Jan 1776
