Last Will and Testament

JOSIAH LANE

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN

I Josiah Lane of the county of Richmond in the state of North Carolina being in a low state of health recollecting the uncertainity of Life do make and ordain this my last will & Testament in manner & form following:

towit I [Lend?] to my beloved wife Comfort Lane during her life the following described [Rio...?] or parcel of land -

Beginning at the stake on the Webb's ferry road near the head a branch thence down said branch to the mouth to the mouth of the [?] branch coming into the [same?] on the west side.
Thence up that branch to the William Covington line.

Thence with his line to the said Road [&?] with it to the beginning including my dwelling house - [what privilege?] of getting firewood on all [Life?]

I also [Lend?] to my wife Comfort Lane the whole of my personal property of every description to be used and enjoyed by her during Life and at her death - the whole of the above mentioned Land - as well as all of the other property of every description I will & bequeath to Henry H. Crowson his heirs and [Afsignfes?] foreever.

[?] I will & bequeath to said Henry H. Crowson all [all?] the other Land I own not included in the above boundaries - but in case the said Henry Crowson should die with Lawful issue - then the whole of the property mentioned as given to him above I wish equally Divided between Josiah Haley, Josiah Lafiter (Lasater?) & Josiah W. [Corbet?].

I hereby nominate and appoint my said beloved wife Comfort Lane as executrix and said Henry W. Crowson Excutor of this my last will & Testament hereby revoking all other or former wills.

In Witnef where of [the?] said Josiah Lane hath hereunto set his hand and seal this [ninth?] day of July One Thousand Eight hundred and Twentyfive.

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the Testator in his last will & Testament in presence of us who have [afsigned?] this same in his presence and in the presence of each other.

It was proven in open court by the oath of William P. Leake and Wm. Covington Subscribing Witnesses thereto and Henry H. Crowson and Comfort Lane widow of Sd Dd qualified as Executor of sd. will -
